MMA Regional Pick of the Week: CFFC 149
PFL Africa Welterweight Fight: Desmond Awa Tamungang vs Mouhamed Ba

The PFL Africa has been a welcomed expansion into an area that hasn’t seen much exposure in the MMA world. As a result, we have seen some solid stars come out of the region. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the sport when it is growing, we have also seen some brutal mismatches. Today’s best bet comes from one of those that the books haven’t quite caught up to yet.
Mouhamed Ba certainly seems like he has prospect potential. He’s explosive and has dangerous striking. While his grappling certainly lags behind in terms of his skillset, he doesn’t settle on bottom. He immediately works to get back to his feet so he can start swinging those hands yet. In the only loss of his career, he was taken down quite a few times, but always found ways back to his feet.
On the other side of things, Tamungang is essentially the polar opposite. He seems to need a takedown to get anywhere in his fights. On top of that, I don’t really trust his ability to get it there. He relies heavily on body lock takedowns and fighters who willingly give up their back. Because Ba won’t give him anything easy, I feel this fight will take place mostly on the feet. If that is the case, the fight will not be nearly as close as the line suggests.
