Cage Warriors 198 Lightweight Fight: Tim Wilde vs Oscar Ownsworth
Card Start Time: Saturday (11/22), 12:30pm EST (UFC Fight Pass)
On this Cage Warriors 198 main card, we have a pair of fighters who have been hurting for a win for some time. When books see that fact on the regional scene, we typically get a close line between the two. However, if you watch the tape on these two, you see that not all losses are created equal.
When it comes to Tim Wilde, he’s a guy who swings wild on the feet. As a result, he had big power that carried him through a lot of his early fights. However, as he’s seen a step up in competition, he’s struggled with counters and being taken down after overextending himself. In two of his last three fights, he was knocked out with a punch in the first round.
On the other side of things, Ownsworth has looked a lot better. Sure, there have been times when he was complacent and got tagged more than he should, but that will happen when you face PFL’s lightweight tournament winner and #1 contender – Alfie Davis. Outside of that, he’s looked pretty sharp with his hands and good enough defending takedowns. It’s the speed with the hands that I think lends itself well to counters against Wilde. Look for him to land something big early when Wilde gets wild.
