The advantage here is that the data is usually quite a bit less sharp than when you’re making MMA predictions for the UFC. MMA Regional Pick of the Week: LFA 221
LFA Flyweight Fight: Shannon Clark vs Beatriz Consuli
Card Start Time: Friday (11/7), 9:00pm EST (UFC Fight Pass)
When we broke down this fight on the MMA Gambling Podcast this week, I thought the line would be close. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that Shannon Clark, the reigning flyweight champion, came in as a decent-sized underdog.
Clark is definitely getting hate from the books due to her loss on Dana White’s Contender Series. She was highly touted going in and took an absolutely brutal KO loss. However, that doesn’t discount just how good she’s been in her career. She puts on an excellent pace and is one of the more physical fighters I’ve seen at this weight class. Plus, she has shown that she could rebound from that loss already. She went in and unified the titles over the interim champion Cheyanne Bowers, which is no easy task.
On the other side of things, I respect Consuli. She is a solid prospect in her own right. She lives behind a sharp jab and appears to have weapons on the mat as well. However, she has fought mostly lower level competition and hasn’t really shown much of an affinity for putting fighters away. While I think she can have her moments, I just thing you have to take out Clark in order to beat her. Nobody is going to outwork her for 25 minutes straight at this level.
