MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – October 27

The head-to-head data we’re leaning on in this one is what Max Scherzer looks like against the top of the Los Angeles order. He has face the likes of Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani a total of 71 times. Although they are only hitting .225 against him, 62.5% of the hits they’ve gotten have gone for extra bases. 25% of the hits those three have had against the former Cy Young winner were dingers. That’s a significant amount of hard contact and when you add in that Dodger Stadium was the most homer friendly park according to Statcast’s park factors, then we have to look to the YRFI.
Tyler Glasnow has looked good in this postseason, but again we have some players who have seen him really well. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer have combined to go 12-for-30 off of Glasnow (.400 batting average). They are also putting up a .667 slugging percentage against him in their respective careers. Again, with the homer friendly ballpark, it feels like something should leave the yard in the first and get the YRFI to cash here.
