The UFC octagon is heading north this week, leaving Rio de Janeiro and hitting up the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada for UFC Fight Night: de Ridder vs Allen (aka UFC Vancouver). For my MMA Underdog Pick of the Week: UFC Vancouver, I’m going with a ‘hometown’ hero. Let’s get it on, c’mon!

MMA Underdog Pick of the Week: UFC Vancouver
UFC Fight Night: de Ridder vs Allen (aka UFC Vancouver)
Start Time: 4:00 PM EST – (ESPN+)
I have ‘hometown’ in quotations above because Canadian Kyle Nelson‘s home base of Stoney Creek, Ontario (my home for the first six months of my life) is 2700 miles away from Vancouver. However, the crowd will be on the side of all the Canadian fighters on the card, so Nelson has that advantage.
But the real reason I’m taking ‘The Monster’ is because his opponent, Matt Frevola, is coming off being heavily knocked out in his last two fights. And Nelson has knockout power, with six career knockouts, including his last win. Nelson should be able to outstrike Frevola on Saturday night, and he also has solid grappling skills to keep this fight standing if he chooses.
