College Football Predictions & Best Bets for Week 6

College Football Predictions & Best Bets for Week 6

Now that’s more like it. Week 5 was much kinder for my college football bets, as I hit both of my plays, putting me back in the black for the season. Let’s keep the positive vibes alive tomorrow. I’m having luck taking massive underdogs to cover the spread, and that’s what I’m going with this week as well. For my college football predictions and best bets for Week 6, we’re off to TDECU Stadium in Houston, Texas, and Memorial Stadium in Norman, Oklahoma. Let’s go!

College Football Predictions & Best Bets for Week 6

Kent State Golden Flashes vs #5 Oklahoma Sooners

Start Time: 4:00 PM EST

We kick things off at Memorial Stadium, home of the #5-ranked, 4-0 Oklahoma Sooners, who welcome the MAC’s Kent State Golden Flashes, who have stumbled out of the gate to a 1-3 record this season. So why am I taking a bad team on the road on the spread, you ask?

First of all, I’m quite sure the Golden Flashes are going to get blown out of the water tomorrow in Norman. However, there are levels to getting blown out of the water, and the spread for this game is crazy wide.

The Sooners have played weak teams this season, but they haven’t beaten any of them by 46 points or more. However, Kent State has been curb-stomped by the two ranked teams it’s faced this season.

In the end, it all comes down to my numbers. After taking the home field advantage, strength of schedule, and other advanced stats into account, I’ve come up with the still large spread of Oklahoma -33. So I’m going with the Golden Flashes on the spread.

Best Bet: Kent State +46.5 (-110)

#11 Texas Tech Raiders vs Houston Cougars

Start Time: 7:00 PM EST

Next, we’re off to Houston for some Big 12 action. Not just some Big 12 action, but two undefeated teams in the conference (and overall) meeting as the nationally ranked #11 Texas Tech Raiders visit the Houston Cougars. Someone is going to lose their zero tomorrow.

And while it may be the home side Cougars, I think they will at the very least cover the substantial spread. The Raiders have moved up the rankings with each win this season, but they’ve played a relatively easy schedule, aside from an impressive victory on the road at #16 Utah last week.

For their part, the Cougars have mostly beaten up on patsies as well this season, but their overall strength of schedule is still higher than Texas Tech’s. And they’re at home, which is historically worth almost four points per game for them.

After crunching all the numbers, I’ve come up with the line of Texas Tech -1, so we’re getting great value on Houston on the spread.

Best Bet: Houston +11.5 (-110)
