While the Dallas Wings’ #1 overall draft pick, Paige Bueckers, appears to have this year’s WNBA Rookie of the Year award locked up, the performance of the third overall pick, the Washington Mystics’ Sonia Citron, shouldn’t be slept on.
The 6’1″ guard was one of three rookies to make the All-Star Team this season, and leads the Mystics in minutes played this season. And her 15.3 ppg is only 0.1 points behind teammate Brittney Sykes for the team lead.
It’s the points that I’m zeroing in on tomorrow for Citron. She’s on a heater currently, scoring 17 or more points in three straight games and five of her last seven. That includes 19 in her last game, against the very same Connecticut Sun she’ll be facing tomorrow night, who is the worst team in the WNBA and, not surprisingly, has a porous defense.
Look for Citron’s hot streak to continue on Thursday night.
