Despite a loss to the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, the Chicago Cubs continue to cruise along this season as the best team in the majors (according to advanced stats – their win/loss record of 59-40 is half a game behind the Detroit Tigers). But their divisional rival, the Milwaukee Brewers, on the strength of a 10-game winning streak, have caught up to the Cubs in the National League Central, so Chicago can’t take their feet off the gas.
While Chicago is starting an “opener” tomorrow in Ryan Brasier, that just means we’re getting them at a better price as they face the Kansas City Royals to kick off a three-game interleague series. The Cubs’ 32-17 record at Wrigley is the fourth-best home mark in the majors this season, and they’re a better team than the Royals, regardless of where this game is played.
After crunching the numbers, the Cubs are close to two runs better than the Royals tomorrow, yet we’re getting them at a nice moneyline price.
