The Los Angeles Angels don’t suck this season – progress! Still, they are only 47-49 as they hit up Philadelphia tomorrow night to start a three-game series against the Phillies. At 55-41, and 30-16 at home, the Phillies definitely don’t suck.
But how good either team is isn’t relevant for my prop bet for Friday. What’s most important is that Los Angeles strikes out too much. Whiffing 9.66 times per game, only the train wreck that is the Colorado Rockies strike out more than the Angels do this season.
Which brings us to Philadelphia’s starting pitcher tomorrow, Jesus Luzardo. The 27-year-old lefty has whiffed 122 batters this season, tied for 13th best in the majors. And he’s topped 6.5 strike outs, which is what we’re betting him at for tomorrow, three times in his last four starts, and four times over his past six appearances.
