Baltimore Orioles vs Tampa Bay Rays
Start Time: 7:35 PM EST
The Tampa Bay Rays are once again exceeding expectations – perhaps we need to expect more out of them. Despite playing in a minor league ballpark while Tropicana Field gets repaired, the Rays are on pace for 86 wins, besting the 81.5 they were projected for heading into the season. And the advanced stats have them ranked as the fifth-best team in the majors.
The Baltimore Orioles? Well, they suck. They shouldn’t suck with all the young talent that they have, but they’ve figured out a way to squander it, and are sitting at 43-52 currently, dead last in the American League East.
The Orioles send 41-year-old ‘Uncle’ Charlie Morton to the bump tomorrow, and he’s on a heater, but you can’t expect that to last much longer. After crunching the numbers, the Rays should be more than 1.5 runs better than the Orioles tomorrow in Tampa. That makes Tampa Bay my best bet for Friday.
