The UFC is again in front of a live audience this weekend with UFC Nashville coming to you from the Bridgestone Arena. The main event sees a pair of big heavyweight knockout artists on display. Derrick Lewis and Tallison Teixeira do battle in what is scheduled to be, but likely won’t be, five rounds of action. The UFC Nashville card is loaded up with incredible fights with some great spots to look for some high-value MMA bets, picks, and predictions.

Main Card Pick of the Week: UFC Nashville
UFC heavyweight Fight: Derrick Lewis vs Tallison Teixeira
Start Time: Saturday (7/12) 6:00pm EST (ESPN+)
The hype around Brazilian prospect Tallison Teixeira is pretty clear. After picking up a 35-second KO victory in his debut, the UFC has thrusted him right into a live-crowd main event. Not only that, but the books have installed him as a -235 favorite against the heavyweight stalwart, Lewis.
I think this line is a mistake and a great spot to hit up the underdog. While there is no doubting Teixeira’s power, he is a fighter who is fairly one-dimensional. He pretty much comes looking to box and do nothing else. He’ll likely get his wish with Lewis, but I’m not sure that’s something he’ll ultimately be happy about.
The big issue I see with Teixeira standing and banging with Lewis is that he doesn’t have the defense to hold up. His height has been his primary defense in the past, but he’s now entering a stage where people are good enough to check that. Additionally, he’s up against a moderately durable guy, but has never seen a second round.
Between cardio questions and his ability to take a shot, I’d fading the favorite here.
