The powers that be don’t want you to know this, hence the name “Athletics” with no city in front of it, but the A’s play in West Sacramento now (not even Sacramento, but West Sacramento). And the Athletics don’t like playing in the minor league park in West Sacramento very much, as they are only 13-23 at ‘home’, the second-worst home mark in the majors.
The A’s are also the second-worst team overall in the majors based on advanced stats, once again only better than the hapless Colorado Rockies. And the Houston Astros are the Astros – solid as ever.
After crunching the numbers, without even considering that Framber Valdez is starting tomorrow for the visitors, I have Houston about two runs better than the West Sacramento Athletics. That would make Houston on the moneyline my best bet for Wednesday.
