The UFC might technically be off this coming weekend, but they are still running events on Thursday and Friday. The UFC Performance Institute Shanghai hosts the fourth season of Road to UFC. Flyweights, bantamweights, featherweights, and lightweights will battle in eight-person tournaments to try to be crowned the Road to UFC Champion and earn a place on the UFC roster. For my MMA Main Card Pick of the Week: Road to UFC, I’ve got a winner from a women’s non-tournament feature fight. Let’s go!

MMA Main Card Pick of the Week: Road To UFC
Road TO UFC: Shanghai Episode 1
Main Card Start Time: 7:00 AM EST – Thursday (UFC Fight Pass)
Each of the Road to UFC fight cards kicks off with a non-tournament feature fight, usually where the UFC sticks a fighter they want to allow a chance to wow them and get themselves a UFC contract without competiting in a tournament. The fighter on Episode 1 they have their eyes on is China’s Xiaocan Feng.
Feng made it to the finals of last year’s tournament, dominated the championship fight, only to get caught by a headkick and finished. She’s being given a much less experienced Arisa Matsuda on Thursday, a fighter she’s got the size, experience, and youth on. Feng should make good on her second chance.
