Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles Preview and Predictions

It’s an NFC East showdown in Philadelphia on Sunday. It’s a rematch of their Week 10 clash that saw the Eagles take down the Cowboys by a final score of 34-6. This time the game will take place at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET on FOX. Let’s dive in and take a look at this Cowboys-Eagles preview and predictions.

The Cowboys announced Thursday that they are shutting down Ceedee Lamb for the season. Eliminated from the playoffs and with not much on the line, they decided it’s best for the star to begin healing his shoulder and not risk further injury. Dallas has been playing well. Winning four of their last five games including wins over the Commanders and Buccaneers. Losing Lamb will undoubtedly be a big blow to the team.

Philadelphia is coming off a big loss to the Washington commanders in a game that Jalen Hurts left early with a concussion. The loss was their first one since September 29th when they lost to the Buccaneers in Week 4 of the season. It’s not looking good for Hurts to play on Sunday after once again not practicing Thursday. It’s not impossible, but unlikely that he will clear concussion protocol in time. Kenny Pickett is questionable with a rib injury but looks likely to start in place of Hurts.

AJ Brown Over Receiving Yards

The books are playing coy as we await quarterback news out of Philadelphia. I don’t really care what they set the number at, I’m taking the over. In three of his five career games against the Cowboys Brown has gone for over 94 yards. He’s also had over 97 in his last two games and in four of the last seven for the Eagles. He’s hot at least 84 in eight of the 12 games he’s played in 2024.

If it’s Hurts, great! The star starting quarterback and star receiver have quite the relationship. But even if it’s Kenny Pickett, just being tossed into the game last week without any prep, Brown still caught for 97 yards. Trevon Diggs is also out for the Cowboys as he’s on the season-ending IR. Take the Brown overs.

Philadelphia Eagles -6.5 (-120)

When these teams met in Week 10 the Eagles held Cooper Rush to just 45 passing yards. Rush has played a lot better since that game and I don’t expect that bad of a performance again. However, even with Kenny Pickett at the helm, this Eagles team is just that much better. With no Lamb, it’s going to hurt the Cowboys offense and Pickett gets a whole week of preparation as the starter. Philadelphia is 9-6 against the spread this season and 7-3 over their last 10 games. Dallas is just 6-9 ATS overall.
