Week 9 Thursday Night College Football Picks

To shoutout Reddit user u/No-Contribution3303, “What an embarrassment once again.” Sam Houston blew a 14-point second-half lead and failed to grab that initial FBS win again. Sadly enough, we fall to 0-4 on the week and now 3-6 on the weekday picks. If you’re not being transparent, you’re not doing it right! We are up over 10 units on the season, which is a beautiful thing. It’s time for some Thursday Night College Football tonight. We have ACC and Fun Belt action. The Sun Belt is my favorite conference to watch, as every game has the potential to come down to the final play.

Week 9 Thursday Night College Football Picks

Syracuse at Virginia Tech (-3) O/U 47)

Before Syracuse faced the top three teams in the ACC, they were 4-0 and on the cusp of the top 25. The narrative around them changed very quickly. They are now underdogs to one of the worst teams in the league because of those recent results. Virginia Tech is 2-1 in the ACC. The wins came against a really bad Pitt team and Wake Forest with a backup QB. Buying The Orange at their lowest is the play in this matchup.

The Pick: Syracuse +3

Georgia State at Georgia Southern (-1.5) (O/U 63)

Fun Belt! This matchup of two electric Georgia group of five programs is going to be awesome. We have a total set in the 60s, which means fireworks will be set off. Davis Brin and Darren Grainger are two of the better QBs in the league. Brin has been doing it for years with his arm, while Grainger is more of a dual-threat QB.

Offensively and defensively, the edge goes to the Panthers of Georgia State. Although this is a big game for both sides, Georgia State does have James Madison on deck, which could be a slight look ahead situation. Combine that with the weekday home field environment, and I would give the spot advantage to The Eagles of Georgia Southern.

With all that being said, this matchup is so dead even. I am expecting a super hard-fought battle on both ends. These offenses are fast and electric, but I would think the defenses are geared up as well. With the total being so high, let’s take a stab at the under.

The Pick: Under 63
