College Football Pick Of The Day (October 13th): NCAA Week 7 Spread Pick

For today’s Week 7 college football pick of the day, I’m looking at a game that is starting in a little under an hour. Delaware heads to Johnny “Red” Floyd Stadium to take on Middle Tennessee. The Blue Hens are currently a 1-point favorite.

Delaware comes in averaging 21.4 points per game, with a passing attack that’s producing 261 yards per contest. They’ve shown the ability to move the ball down the field. Look no further than their 22-14 win over Coastal Carolina earlier this season.

The Blue Hens are coming off a bye after a home loss to Liberty and should be ready to roll. Starting quarterback Nick Minucci has been week-to-week with a knee injury sustained against Virginia. He missed the Liberty game. Even so, the Blue Hens have weapons, and last season’s meeting saw them beat Middle Tennessee 31-28.

Middle Tennessee has been limited on offense lately. They scored just 13 points against Jacksonville State and were shut out by Kansas. The Blue Raiders are averaging 20.8 points per game but have struggled to sustain drives. Their defense ranks among the worst in the FBS, allowing over 200 rushing yards per game. That soft front is going to be a problem against a Delaware team that can attack on the ground and in the air.

The number is small, but this will be a competitive game between two 2-3 squads looking for a conference win. Middle Tennessee’s recent scoring droughts and defensive issues worry me. The Blue Hens should be able to control the line of scrimmage and grind out a cover.

The Pick: Delaware -1
