It’s another brutal week in the NFL when it comes to injuries affecting your betting and fantasy football rosters. We’ll navigate the latest injury report, so you know what to watch out for as you place your bets and make your fantasy football roster moves. Let’s dive into the lengthy NFL injury report for Week 5.
Green Light: Cleared to Play
Commanders QB – Jayden Daniels (elbow)
It’s a short list of notable players who have been given the green light, but Jayden Daniels is cleared to play for the Commanders just two weeks after dislocating his elbow again. It’ll be interesting to see how he plays this week.
Yellow Light: Questionable – Likely to Play
Bills WR – DJ Moore (shoulder)
Patriots RB – Rhamonde Stevenson (knee)
Bears RB – D’Andre Swift (hip/knee)
Eagles TE – Dallas Goedert (knee)
Saints WR – Chris Olave (rest/foot)
Bengals WR – Ja’Marr Chase (concussion)
Vikings WR – Justin Jefferson (ankle)
Vikings WR – Jordan Addison (hamstring)
Cardinals RB – Jeremiyah Love (ankle)
Giants WR – Malik Nabers (knee)
Giants RB – Cam Skattebo (shoulder)
Ravens WR – Zay Flowers (foot)
Commanders WR – Terry McLaurin (hamstring)
Commanders WR – Stefon Diggs (hamstring)
Commanders TE – Chig Okonkwo (hamstring)
Commanders RB – Rachaad White (shoulder)
Commanders RB – Jacory Croskey-Merritt (groin)
Steelers RB – Rico Dowdle (toe)
Saints RB – Alvin Kamara (back)
Colts WR – Keenan Allen (groin)
Raiders RB – Ashton Jeanty (ankle/foot)
Chargers WR – Quentin Johnston (chest)
Chargers TE – Charlie Kolar (forearm)
Giants TE – Isiah Likely (knee/groin)
49ers WR – Mike Evans (ribs)
Seahawks RB – George Holani (ribs)
Titans WR – Carnell Tate (back)
The questionable list is so long we’ll split it between players that seem likely to play and players who seem unlikely to play. DJ Moore is a Monday night play, so it’ll be risky. Sounds like he’ll play if he can; I’d have a backup plan, or roll a different way. Stevenson playing is unfortunate News if you are a Henderson truther like myself. Either way, I expect Henderson to get some more run Sunday. With Swift in Monongai likely out, Swift is in for a huge game against a bad Green Bay defense. Dallas Goedert looks like he’ll return; based on the game script and everyone else being hurt, I’d be fine playing him in fantasy this week.
Chris Olave looks like more of a veteran rest day. Should be good to go; he’s not one you sit. Ja’Marr Chase practiced Thursday, a great sign he’ll be cleared from concussion protocol and good to go. Jefferson looks like he’ll play as well; if he does, he’s always a must-start. Jordan Addison also returned to practice Thursday. Jeremiyah Love finished last week’s game with the ankle injury; I’d expect him to play. Nabers looks likely to play; he’s a must-play if he does. Skattebo is the same story as Nabers. Flowers has played through a hamstring injury; the foot injury is new but seems minimal. I expect him to play, and he’s a dog.
Commanders wide receivers will be ones to watch; with Daniels back, they’d be playable this week. Both running backs are trending towards playing, as is Okonkwo. Rico Dowdle is another question mark; if he misses, it’s huge for Jaylen Warren. Alvin Kamara is suffering from old man syndrome. He should be good to play; if he does, it’ll be split time between him and Kendre Miller. Keenan Allen is dangerous when he plays; he looks good for this week. Jeanty could be limited this week if he plays. For Johnston and Kolar, it’s hard to trust any Chargers right now. Mike Evans will likely tough it out again; he’s always a threat to score when he’s on the field. Tate’s back injury was new on Thursday, but appears to be a small thing he can play through.
Yellow Light: Questionable – Unlikely to Play
Bears RB – Kyle Monongai (toe)
Ravens QB Lamar Jackson (ankle)
Eagles WR – Dontayvion Wicks (hamstring)
Bengals WR Tee Higgins (groin/neck)
Chargers WR – Ladd McConkey (foot)
Packers RB – Chris Brooks (ankle)
Patriots WR – Mack Hollins (calf)
Dolphins RB – Jaylen Wright (foot)
Kyle Monongai looks unlikely to play with turf toe. As mentioned above, this makes Swift the bell cow. Lamar Jackson is unlikely to play, leaving Tyler Huntley as the guy. Huntley is a solid backup, especially for this team. He’s been fine in past performances filling in for Jackson. Add Wicks to that long list for Philadelphia; he was added to the report with a hamstring Thursday. Unlike Chase, Higgins doesn’t look likely to play. Dohnte Meyers could be a spot start if you are desperate. For McConkey’s sake, I hope they don’t play him. If they do, he can’t be trusted.
Chris Brooks missed practice again Thursday, but this Packers backfield is largely unplayable anyways. I’d be surprised if Mack Hollins plays this week; Romeo Doubs is in play as a deep flex. If Wright misses for the Dolphins, it could be another big day for Ollie Gordon.
Orange Light: Doubtful
Broncos WR – Pat Bryant (ankle)
Broncos CB – Patrick Surtain II (ankle)
Jets WR – Adonai Mitchell (finger)
Jets RB – Breece Hall (quadriceps)
Pretty cut and dry in the doubtful section. We didn’t have much hope for these players to play this week. Surtain could be a positive thing for the Chargers’ offense. Breece Hall being out means Braelon Allen is in play again in Week 5.
Red Light: Out
Steelers WR – Michael Pittman (foot)
Bears QB – Caleb Williams (hamstring)
Eagles WR – DeVonta Smith (hamstring)
Eagles RB – Saquon Barkley (hamstring)
Eagles RB – Tank Bigsby (sports hernia)
49ers FB – Kyle Juszczyk (knee)
Chiefs WR – Tyquan Thornton (ankle) Placed on IR
Rams TE – Terrance Furgeson (ankle) Placed on IR
Michael Pittman is set to be out multiple weeks with his foot injury. Roman Wilson is a solid spot start if you need help. Caleb Williams will miss this week as expected; Tyson Bagent gets the start again. This Eagles crew is beat up for a London game this week. It’s a great spot to smash the Jaguars, one of my best bets for the week. Will Shipley is likely the main guy for Philadelphia at running back; if you are really desperate, the coaching staff has talked up Damien Pierce this week. Add Juszczyk to the long list of 49er injuries. Thornton being placed on IR could lead to a Tyreek Hill signing. Furgeson will miss at least four weeks for the Rams. Still hard to trust any of their tight ends.
