The Ravens were 11.5-point favorites over the Titans, with a total of 43.5, when the guys taped on September 30, and that is a lot of points to hand a team Ryan Kramer called “such a trash team” in the same segment. Both hosts took them anyway. The Titans visit the Ravens on Sunday, October 4 at 1:00 PM ET in Baltimore, MD, and Ryan talked Sean off Baltimore on the NFL Picks Week 4 episode.
Titans vs Ravens Odds
The Ravens were 11.5-point favorites over the Titans when the guys taped on September 30, and the total was 43.5.
Our Picks
- Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Titans +11.5
- Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Titans +11.5
Nobody on the show is defending Cam Ward. Ryan pointed to the All-22 from the Giants game, where Brian Daboll had receivers schemed open and Ward missed them, and that game ended on an interception thrown where no Titans receiver was anywhere near. What moved Ryan to Tennessee was the other side of the ball. Jeffrey Simmons is the strength of that defense and he plays in the middle, which is exactly where Baltimore was thin at taping: down two centers, with a rookie guard sliding over to a position he hasn’t played competitively. Ryan had just watched Simmons destroy the Giants’ interior line. Add the question about Lamar Jackson’s back, which Ryan said would knock this number down in a hurry if it flared up, and he landed on “it’s too many points. What are we doing?”
Sean needed convincing, and for a moment he had Baltimore. His reasons held up. By his count Lamar Jackson is 11-7 against the spread as a double-digit favorite. He thought the Ravens had already gotten their early-season dud out of the way with a home loss to the Saints. The Titans were also on the road for a second straight week, and Sean figured Derrick Henry might want to run it down their throats.
Ryan’s reply was that gross spots are the theme of the Week 4 card, and that Cam Ward can’t be worse than he was against the Giants. Sean called the Lamar situation big, didn’t think the Ravens defense looked electric. That was enough to make it unanimous: “We’re sharps. We’ll take Tennessee.” Afterward he saw a back door that could open late. The path to a cover, as laid out on air, runs through a Cam Ward touchdown pass and a Simmons turnover. The disclaimer came right after they locked it in: “Cam Ward’s horrible, just so we’re clear.”
