Cardinals vs Giants Prediction & Picks: NFL Week 4

Our Cardinals vs Giants prediction is a split that turns on one throw. Sean won’t take the Giants until Jameis completes a pass down the field, and Ryan thinks Arizona laying points on the road is the bigger problem. The Cardinals were 2-point favorites with a total of 44.5 when the guys taped on September 30, and the game kicks off Sunday, October 4 at 1:00 PM ET in East Rutherford, NJ. Sean’s one-throw test and Ryan’s answer to it are on the NFL Picks Week 4 episode.

Cardinals vs Giants Odds

The Cardinals were 2-point road favorites over the Giants, with a total of 44.5, when the guys taped on September 30.

Our Picks

Ryan opened by asking Sean to explain how the Cardinals end up laying two on the road, and Sean gave him part of it. There’s probably some line value on the Giants, he admitted.

He still couldn’t get there. Both defenses look shaky to Sean, but Jacoby Brissett can complete the ball downfield and Jameis hasn’t shown that yet. He doesn’t think Arizona is a bad team: the Cardinals hung around with the 49ers and beat the Chargers, and if they got worked by Seattle, he rates Seattle as a very good team. He likes fading a bad team off a win, he says the Giants are missing a defender he called huge for that unit, and he sees Michael Wilson and Trey McBride as an easy attack on the Giants secondary. A cover with no touchdowns is exactly the kind he’ll happily fade. His final score is six Giants field goals and three Cardinals touchdowns, Arizona 21-18.

Ryan answered the no-touchdown point with the Giants special teams, which he called electric, and with John Harbaugh’s record as an underdog, 57-40-5 against the spread by his count. He expects Jameis to be turned loose downfield, and if the Giants won’t let him throw it, Ryan says pull him. He doesn’t buy McBride roasting this defense, crediting the linebackers and the back end, and he thinks a unit that has played well situationally can push Brissett into a turnover. When Sean floated a Michael Wilson ladder as the mirror of Ryan’s Giants position, Ryan agreed Wilson was the receiver he’d go after.

Ryan also pointed out that the Cardinals are drawing most of the bets and most of the money, and Sean’s read was that the sharps are on Arizona as well. The segment ended with the two of them doing calendar math on the Giants’ injured quarterback, and Ryan has him back for wild card weekend.
