College Football Week 5 Weekday Games Preview & Picks Recap
The College Football Experience (@TCEonSGPN) on the Sports Gambling Podcast Network continues its 2026 season coverage with college football week 5 predictions for the weekday slate. Pick Dundee aka (@TheColbyD) and Ryan McIntyre (@Moneyline_Mac) double lock Western Kentucky outright at New Mexico State. Why do they both like Tulsa minus 1.5 against North Texas? Is Delaware plus 7.5 the side against Liberty? Does Mac regret the Pitt money line, or do Colby’s Hokies cover 3.5? Can Northwestern beat Matt Campbell’s Penn State? Why is Montana State a lock at Idaho?
Before the picks, Colby tells the story of quitting Blockbuster on a rainy Friday night, and Mac tops it with the Taco Bell order he threw into the West Virginia woods. From there the Daily Dundee rolls, where Mac names Temple at South Florida his foxhole spot and Stanford at Wake Forest wins dumbest game. They also run through the Friday small-school rivalries and then finish late at the Kibbie Dome. We talk it all and more on this episode of The College Football Experience.

Before The College Football Week 5 Predictions, The Worst Jobs Ever
Have you ever just walked off a job in the middle of a shift? Colby has. As a teenager working at Blockbuster Video on a rainy Friday night, he was short-staffed, getting yelled at to work faster, and missing a Knicks-Heat game. So when his buddies walked in on their way to a party to watch it, he told his coworker off, threw his name tag at her and walked out into the pouring rain. She then came running after him to apologize. Zero regrets, because a week later he had a job at a go-kart track.
Mac’s story tops it. Driving DoorDash in West Virginia around 2019, he got sent down a gravel road at 10 o’clock at night in a monsoon with a Taco Bell order. The hotline wouldn’t refund the trip, so he threw the Taco Bell over the ledge into the woods and never went back. Troy Chewning (@Troychewning) also once quit a pool job with the health inspector on site, knowing the pool had to close without him. And Colby’s worst job ever was selling cell phones, under a boss who tried to sell a new phone to a woman in her 70s whose battery just wasn’t seated.
Temple In The Foxhole And Ohio State’s Road Schedule
The Daily Dundee starts with the foxhole, and Mac goes Temple at South Florida. The Owls have lost three in a row, including a home league game. Colby adds that they lost one while up 14 with a minute and 30 left. Now they get a shot at an undefeated USF. Next is the game Mac wants to see most. He picks Alabama and Mississippi State, the battle of the unbeatens, with Ohio State at Iowa right behind it. That’s Colby’s answer, and he brings receipts. Since 2011 the Buckeyes have played five road games at Purdue, five at Illinois, four each at Northwestern, Nebraska and Wisconsin, two at Minnesota and exactly one at Iowa. Iowa also has the best record of that group over the same stretch. To Colby, that’s the case for a big playoff.
In Virginia, Mac ranks JMU first, then Virginia Tech, Virginia, Liberty and Old Dominion. Colby ends up on the same order, with JMU on top by a little. In Ohio, leaving out the playoff contenders, both of them like Toledo as the best of the rest. But Mac would also put Cincinnati ahead of Ohio State, because the Bearcats have the better resume. Navy at Air Force is his Group of Five game of the week, since it’s a Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy game. Troy’s projection is 16 total drives.
Power Rankings Across California And Florida
Mac’s most likely upset is Cal as a dog at UNLV. Out of Memphis, Oregon State, UTSA, Air Force, App State and Fresno, he says Oregon State has looked the best, but he trusts Memphis most because he has seen Charles Huff do it before. Colby also has Memphis first. Then in the Power Five group, Mac says everyone outside UCLA feels overrated and puts Texas first by a little. Colby goes Oregon, Texas, Ole Miss, UCLA, Texas Tech and SMU, because he likes how the Oregon offense looked with Raiola in for the injured Dante Moore.
In California, with UCLA and USC left out, Mac calls Sac State the worst team in the country after it got blown out by UMass. He settles on Cal first and Stanford second, because Cal was tied with UCLA with 12 minutes left. In Florida he takes the Gators over Miami, then UCF, Florida State, South Florida and FAU. Colby flips the top two and puts undefeated South Florida sixth, which he admits is hilarious.
Which Coach Gets Fired After A Blowout?
The rule is a 35-7 loss this week. Mac says Clay Helton is gone at Georgia Southern if Coastal Carolina blows them out. If Lincoln Riley loses straight up at home to Washington, he’s fired too. Beamer is done if he loses to Kentucky, because that would be three in a row. Schiano could also go if Rutgers gets drilled by 40 against Indiana with a bye coming. Locksley survives again, and Colby apologizes one more time for passing along the firing reports. Then for dumbest game, Mac says Stanford at Wake Forest is easy money. Colby agrees, since Stanford was just at Duke two weeks ago. Northwestern’s $800 million stadium opening against Penn State is dumb for other reasons, he adds.
Western Kentucky And Tulsa Are Double Locks
The Hilltoppers are catching 2.5 at New Mexico State, but Colby would rather take the money line at plus 110 or 115. He says the Tops are 1-3 but good. He also bets the over 57.5 because he thinks this New Mexico State offense can score more than it did in previous years under Tony Sanchez. Mac says Western Kentucky looked bad in week one and then had to play at Georgia and at Indiana, followed by a get-right game at home against Mercyhurst. So it’s a double lock on the Tops.
Tulsa minus 1.5 against North Texas depended on the Golden Hurricane quarterback, who went from questionable to probable while they talked. If he plays, Colby lays it. Mac says Tulsa would be a dog without him, and that with him they already won at Sam Houston and beat Oklahoma State in week one. The Arkansas loss was a nightmare spot. That makes it a double lock on the Canes. Colby also leans under 57.5 because of the Tulsa defense, but isn’t sure he’ll bet it.
Friday Night: Delaware, St. Lawrence And The Old Rivalries
Friday gets the small-school treatment first. Johns Hopkins at Dickinson goes back to 1891, and both of them take Johns Hopkins on the road in Carlisle. Muhlenberg at Ursinus is 126 years old. Colby takes Muhlenberg, and Mac takes Ursinus at home once they figure out how to pronounce it. Union at St. Lawrence in Canton, New York, is a 119-year rivalry and a double lock on the Saints. Then comes Liberty at Delaware, the Friday night game of note. Colby takes the Blue Hens plus 7.5 after Delaware got smacked by UVA. The quarterback shows questionable, and one report in the chat says doubtful. Their logic is that the line would be 10 or more without him, so the 7.5 says he’s playing. Mac takes the home dog, and it’s a double lock on the Blue Hens.
Pitt, Penn State And A Late Montana State Lock
Pitt at Virginia Tech has two undefeated teams, the Hokies laying 3.5 and a total of 54.5. Colby takes Virginia Tech and would love to get minus 3 because the hook scares him. He’s counting on Lane Stadium being on fire. Mac hates both programs and takes the Pitt money line anyway. He thinks Pitt has the better roster, and Narduzzi hasn’t beaten Franklin in a decade. Troy then predicts a text from Mac at 3:15 in the morning saying he can’t sleep after picking Pitt.
Penn State is laying 2.5 or 3 at Northwestern’s new stadium, total 45.5. Colby takes Northwestern outright because he doesn’t like Matt Campbell as a favorite. Troy calls Northwestern a Matt Campbell system play. But Mac takes Penn State and calls Northwestern the too-cute public dog, since Campbell can’t open Big Ten play 0-2 after losing at home to Wisconsin as a double-digit favorite. Finally, Montana State at Idaho closes the night in the Kibbie Dome, a series that goes back 121 years. Colby thinks the Idaho job opens this offseason and locks Montana State minus 16.5. Mac calls it a smash spot on national TV. So it’s a double lock on the boys from Bozeman, and when a 14.5 shows up late in the show, Colby says lay it now.
