The Presidents Cup is here, and the United States will once again host the International Team in one of golf’s biggest team events. The 2026 edition heads to Medinah Country Club outside Chicago from Sept. 24-27, bringing the event back to a venue with plenty of team-golf history.

We only get the Presidents Cup every other year, and historically, this event has been dominated by the Americans. The United States owns a 13-1-1 record across the first 15 editions, with the International Team’s lone victory coming all the way back in 1998. That makes the U.S. the obvious historical powerhouse, but team golf has a way of creating chaos, especially at a venue like Medinah.
What is the Presidents Cup?
The Presidents Cup pits a 12-man United States team against a 12-man International Team made up of players from outside the U.S. and Europe. Think Ryder Cup, but instead of Team Europe, the Americans face the rest of the world.
The event features several different match-play formats, including four-ball, foursomes and singles. Four-ball allows each golfer to play his own ball, with the lowest score from each side counting. Foursomes is alternate shot, which puts even more importance on pairings, chemistry and avoiding mistakes.
By Sunday, everything finishes with head-to-head singles matches.
Presidents Cup returns to historic Medinah
There may not be a more fitting venue for team golf than Medinah.
Course No. 3 has hosted three U.S. Opens, two PGA Championships and the 2012 Ryder Cup, where Europe completed its famous comeback to beat the United States 14.5-13.5. The course has since undergone another major renovation. Before this years Presidents Cup, with Geoff Ogilvy’s design group helping reshape it toward a Melbourne Sandbelt-style look.
That history alone should make this one fun. Medinah has produced major-championship pressure, huge crowds and some unforgettable match-play moments.
2026 Presidents Cup rosters
Brandt Snedeker captains a stacked American roster led by Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay. Young talent is mixed in as well, including Chris Gotterup, Jacob Bridgeman and 21-year-old Jackson Koivun.
The Internationals are captained by Geoff Ogilvy and feature plenty of recognizable names, including Hideki Matsuyama, Adam Scott, Tom Kim, Min Woo Lee, Si Woo Kim and Corey Conners. Ryan Fox, Sungjae Im and Nick Taylor also add experience and depth.
On paper, the Americans once again have the deeper roster. With that being said, match play is very different. All it takes is a few hot putters and the right pairings to flip a session.

Having the United States crowd behind this roster is such an advantage. It is surely baked into the price but it’s a factor that is so important. Home teams have dominated team golf events for years. Once the US gets the slightest bit of momentum, they will have the ability to ride that wave of crowd energy and tally some points on the board.
I know we have some unique names on this United States roster. A lot of them are new to the event! With that being said, most of them are more proven than some of these International staples.
The Gotterup and Bridgeman duo is as confident as any pairing in this event and I expect them too to be a staple pairing for the week. The roster that the US brings to the table is much deeper, experienced, and has cut their chops in team golf events before. I genuinely expected a price closer to -450 for this home Presidents Cup so I will take the price we see and run!
