MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – September 19

Detroit Tigers vs. Chicago White Sox

First Pitch – 1:10 pm EST
Rate Field – Chicago, IL
Broadcast – MLB TV

Sean Burke will kick off this NRFI and he’s been solid for the White Sox this season. His 3.47 ERA has him in the top 20 of the majors and he’s been sharp lately as well. Over his last four starts, he’s held opponents to two or less runs in three of them, which includes a pair of scoreless starts. He gets the Tigers at the right time. They’ve not only dropped two straight games, but have done so while scoring just two total runs. Burke should be able to dial in and get us a clean top of the first.

Jackson Robe will be charged with the task of getting us a clean bottom of the first. He stepped right into the ace role for the Tigers after they lost Tarik Skubal on the trade market. Not only has he been solid all season, but he has a 2.38 ERA so far in the month of September. You have to love that against a Chicago line up that is only averaging 4.00 runs per game over the last week.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for September 19: No (-130)

Boston Red Sox vs. Tampa Bay Rays

First Pitch – 4:10 pm EST
Tropicana Field – St. Petersburg, FL
Broadcast – MLB TV

When it’s Tolle bump day, it’s usually a good day to get in on the Red Sox for an NRFI. Half of that reason is obvious – he’s been stellar this season. He’s rocking a 3.02 ERA on the year and has been getting tons of swings and misses. In his last five starts, he’s averaging 12.21 strikeouts per nine innings. Despite being a solid team, the Rays rank in the bottom third of first inning scoring, which should help Tolle get out of this one.

The other reason we like Tolle bump day is due to the fact that the Red Sox have to hit in the other half of the inning. They not only rank in the bottom third of the league in scoring, but they also rank 28th in first inning scoring. That’s exactly what we want to see with Freddy Peralta on the hill. He’s allowed just two runs over his last four starts for a 0.78 ERA. He’s also allowed just ten hits in 23.0 innings over that span. There’s no reason to believe he can’t get us the clean first frame in this one.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for September 19: No (-125)

Bonus Pick: Royals/Pirates NRFI (-125)
