Florida State heads to Bryant-Denny Stadium to face Alabama on Saturday 9/19 at 3:30p ET, with Alabama favored by 19.5 and the total set at 48.5. The guys broke this one down on the College Football Picks Week 3 episode.
Florida State vs Alabama Odds
The current line has Alabama laying 19.5 at home with a total of 48.5. On air the guys read the moneyline at Alabama -1700 and Florida State +890, and noted the spread had come down from 21.5 to under 19.5 by taping.
Our Picks
- Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Alabama -19.5
- Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Alabama -19.5
- Colby Dant (@thecolbyd): Alabama -19.5
All three landed on Alabama -19.5.
The guys treated this as a revenge spot. Colby’s point was that Alabama beat Florida State last season, and the guys said the Alabama staff has not forgotten how that game ended, the kind of setup where a big favorite comes out looking to run up the score.
The other angle was the mess in Tallahassee. Florida State fired athletic director Michael Alford on Monday, and the guys argued that kind of shake-up brings distraction, with coaches and players fielding questions all week around an already bad team. Colby made the point that a firing like that tends to invite more turnover, and the guys did not see it as a spot Florida State bounces back from.
On the field the guys liked what Alabama’s defensive line showed against Kentucky and expected that front to carry over here. They said nothing Florida State put out against SMU or New Mexico State gave them a reason to buy the underdog, even at a number that had already moved down.
