Best Bet for Sunday (Sept 13th): US Open Finals Predictions
2026 US Open Men’s Singles Finals
Start Time: 2:00 PM EST
It’s been 23 long years since an American male won the US Open title (2003’s winner was Andy Roddick, his only Grand Slam title). What’s more, only three Americans have even made the finals since 2003, the most recent being Taylor Fritz, who got beaten in straight sets by Italy’s Jannik Sinner in 2024.
All of this preamble would be meaningless if no American were competiting in tomorrow’s finals, so naturally there is one: Ben Shelton, the latest, greatest American men’s singles hopeful. The #8-ranked, 23-year-old has been the talk of the tournament, charging through his side of the bracket to reach his first Grand Slam final.
However, now Shelton faces the tourney’s top-ranked player, Alexander Zverev of Germany, who will try to rinse the bad taste of coughing up a two-set lead in the 2020 US Open Finals. I see Zverev having better luck his second time in the finals, as he’s a perfect 5-0 in his career against Shelton, winning 10 of the 11 sets they have played.
Best Bet: Alexander Zverev ML (-145)
Best Bet Overall 2026 Record: 139-109 (56%)
Profit (based on $100/bet): -($91.51)
Return on Investment: 0%
