MMA Regional Pick of the Week: BRAVE CF 108
BRAVE Bantamweight Fight: Stephen Loman vs Lasha Abramishvili
Card Start Time: Saturday (9/5), 2:00pm EST (DAZN)
The co-main event on Saturday features a pair of fighters who, despite being the same age, have drastically different career trajectories and histories. Lasha Abramishvili has been racking up the wins over the last 18 months and can’t seem to lose lately. Meanwhile, Stephen Loman dropped a fight three years ago and is finally returning to action here.
Although it’s alarming that he was away for that long, this is a winnable fight for Loman. While we can’t assume he’ll look just like he did when he fought John Lineker, Shako Sato, or Bibi Fernandes, that version is much better than Abramishvili. He’s faster, has solid takedown defense and the ability to control the distance.
Abramishvili is tough and has solid knockout power. However, his ability to finish fights has led him to rely a bit too heavily on that being a possible outcome. It’s been a decade since anyone knocked Loman out and he faced a lot more power than he’ll see on Saturday.
As a result, I expect Abramishvili to throw big, but eventually tire as Loman takes over the fight.
