The UFC’s world tour continues, as the octagon moves from Sacramento, California, to Shanghai, China, this weekend for a Fight Night. And if the odds are any indication, we have a squash match for a main event. For my MMA Prop Play of the Week: UFC Shanghai, I’ve got a big money submission prop from the prelims. I could not believe the odds for my prop play of the week when I first looked it up, so it was obviously too good a play to pass up. China’s Long Xiao is going to submit Italy’s Francesco Nuzzi on Saturday, and we’re going to get paid over five times our money when he does.
A payout that high would indicate a longshot bet, but this one seems very plausible to me. Xiao is very good on the ground, with nine submission wins (against five knockouts). This play becomes even better when you study Nuzzi’s tape and see that he is not good on the ground at all. Xiao should be able to get him down and have a really good shot at tapping him out.
