Baltimore Ravens Preview
Baltimore was one of the biggest disappointments in 2025. After going 12-5 and winning the AFC North in 2024, the team slipped to 8-9 and missed the playoffs altogether in 2025. The season started disastrously, going just 1-5 through their first six games. They climbed back out of the hole they dug early in the season, but a late-season collapse did them in. They lost four of their last five games of the year, but still had a chance to make the playoffs in the final game of the year against their bitter rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Lamar Jackson got the ball late and put them in position to win it. Rookie kicker Tyler Loop missed the game-winning field goal as time expired. The kick sent the Steelers to the playoffs, and the Ravens packing.
It was a tough year for Lamar Jackson after an MVP-like performance in 2024. He was often injured, missing multiple games and not playing at full strength. Derrick Henry once again looked ageless, piling up another great season at 32 years old. Their defense way underperformed their expectations, which didn’t help matters.
The Franchise, and maybe John Harbaugh himself, decided it was time to part ways and hit the reset button. Harbaugh was quickly the hottest name on the coaching market and landed the New York Giants job. Baltimore turned to Jesse Minter as their new head coach. Minter has Harbaugh ties, as he was working for John’s brother Jim Harbaugh as the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers. He also spent time on Harbaugh’s Baltimore staff from 2017-2020 as a defensive assistant.
The team center Tyler Linderbaum, guard Daniel Faalele, edge Odafe Oweh, and tight end Isiah Likely went to New York with Harbaugh. Initially, the team traded for Maxx Crosby from the Raiders, but Crosby failed the team physical, and they quickly, and maybe a little suspiciously, signed former Bengals star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson. Calais Campbell re-signed with the team, and Tyler Huntley also returned. Huntley has proved to be an effective backup when Lamar Jackson faces injury issues. – Cody Zeeb (@Husker_Zeeb)
Cody’s Baltimore Ravens Best Bet
Lamar Jackson Over 525.5 Rushing Yards (-115)
This is simply a bet on Lamar Jackson’s health. If he can stay healthy, this MVP player should easily cross this mark. Lamar and the Ravens are both at their best when he is rushing the ball, and few quarterbacks have ever done it as well as Jackson has throughout his career. Last year in his 13 games played, Jackson only rushed for 349 yards, by far a career low. Before last season, in his seven seasons, he’d never finished a year below 695 yards on the ground, which happened back in 2018. We’ll cut him a break and give him a pass for being injured last year. Jackson will crush this in 2026 as the Ravens head back to the playoffs.
