MMA Same Game Parlay of the Week: UFC Vegas 120
UFC Vegas 120 Strawweight Fight: Alexia Thianara vs Amanda Lemos
Start Time: 5:00pm EST (Paramount+)
The main event of Saturday isn’t the only fight with title shot implications. Down the main card, we have a showdown between a pair of strawweights – each of whom can make a big step towards the top with a win.
Alexia Thainara is going to give us the first leg of our same-game parlay. Over her last two fights, she’s really leaned into her takedown skills. In wins over Loma Lookboonmee and Bruna Brasil, she racked up 11 takedowns. That two-fight run is the most prolific she’s been with the grappling game, but also marks a 3-1 run with at least three takedowns. The lone time coming in under that mark was when she beat Molly McCann with a submission after the very first takedown.
Amanda Lemos will provide us with the second half of the parlay. Not only will she be able to get up from a couple of Thainara’s attempts and survive the ground, but she should be able to let her hands fly a bit. She’s fresh off a contest with title challenger Gillian Robertson, where she landed 42 significant strikes. Thainara has absorbed at least 30 in all of her fights – with the exception of the McCann fight that ended quickly. So as long as this goes into the third round, we should get both legs to cash.
