MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – July 26
Cleveland Guardians vs. Tampa Bay Rays
First Pitch – 12:15 pm EST
Tropicana Field – St. Petersburg, FL
Broadcast – Peacock
Kicking off this NRFI play will be All-Star Drew Rasmussen. He’s looked good for the Rays this year – sporting a 3.28 ERA on the year and 103 strikeouts. He had a couple of rough starts heading into the break, but looked like his old self in his first start after. Facing the Guardians should help keep him on track. They are one of just two teams that have not cracked the 4.00 runs per game mark on the year. Not only that, but they are also 25th in the league in first inning scoring. Rasmussen should be able to find us three quick outs to get this one started right.
While Tampa Bay is a bit better of a hitting team, they still aren’t lighting the world on fire. They rank right in the middle of the pack when it comes to most offensive categories, but are in the bottom third of the league in first inning scoring. They’ll have the ill-fate of facing Parker Messick on Sunday. He’s currently a top five option for the AL Cy Young thanks to his 2.68 ERA and 116 strikeouts. He has been even better in July, where he hasn’t allowed more than one earned run in a start (putting up a 1.62 ERA in the process).
NRFI/YRFI Bet for July 26: No (-130)
Los Angeles Angels vs. San Francisco Giants
First Pitch – 4:05 pm EST
Oracle Park – San Francisco, CA
Broadcast – MLB TV
The Angels get first ups in this one and they have been really struggling at the plate lately. Since the All-Star break ended, they’ve scored just 20 runs. That comes out to 2.50 runs per game. That’s part of the reason we’re trusting Carson Whisenhunt to get it done for us here. He’s thrown just two games this year and seven total in his MLB career, but has shown some solid signs of having the stuff. In his two starts this year, he was able to get all the way through the order once without allowing any runs. Between that and the 90 strikeouts he put up in the minors in 82.1 innings, he should be able to breeze through this Angels line up.
The Giants haven’t had much in the way of hitting all year. They rank 24th in runs scored and are even worse in the first inning. Only the Blue Jays and the Padres have scored less in the first inning than the Giants. Jose Soriano should be able to help keep that going. He ranks in the top 25 of both ERA and strikeouts this season. He’s also shown a recent uptick in his ability to get strikeouts.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for July 26: No (-120)
Bonus Pick: Royals/Tigers NRFI (-105)
Looking to put together a three-pick parlay? This extra play may just be the piece that you’re looking for. Throw it together with the other two to net a three-pick parlay of +533.
