San Diego Padres vs Atlanta Braves
Start Time: 7:15 PM EST
The National League East’s top team, the Atlanta Braves, welcome the third-place team from the National League West, the San Diego Padres, to the Dirty South for Game 2 of their four-game series. The Braves will still be without Ronald Acuna Jr., but they should be used to that considering he averages fewer than 100 games played per season.
The pitching matchup will be in Atlanta’s favor regardless of who they are sending to the mound (it’s Reynaldo Lopez, who’s good), because the Dodgers are countering with Walker Buehler. The former Los Angeles Dodgers star is struggling in his first season in San Diego, especially lately, allowing 20 runs(!!) over his last three starts (11 innings).
The only thing that you could say the Padres have in their favor in this matchup is that they are undefeated against the Braves (barring the outcome of Monday night’s game), sweeping them at home earlier in the season. Lucky for Atlanta (and for my bet), they are one of the strongest home teams in the majors, with a 29-9 record at Truist.
