UFC Fight Night: Fiziev vs Torres (aka UFC Baku)
Start Time: 9:00 AM EST
We get a first-time UFC headliner this weekend in Baku, Azerbaijan, as Mexico’s Manuel Torres faces native son Rafael Fiziev in his first five-round main event for the promotion. And it’s well-earned for Torres, as he’s knocked out back-to-back opponents and won eight of his last nine fights.
Yet we find the Mexican fighter as the dog in this lightweight matchup, despite Fiziev only winning once in his past five fights, a stretch dating back four years. Torres is the bigger, younger fighter and is better on the feet and the mat. Fiziev just plain gets hit too much to last long with a finisher like ‘El Loco’.
