MMA Regional Pick of the Week: Cage Warriors
Cage Warriors Lightweight Fight: Jordan Stronge vs Marc-Philippe Ngatchou
Card Start Time: Saturday (4/25), 1:00pm EST (UFC Fight Pass)
When this lightweight fight opened, Jordan Stronge was nearly a 2-to-1 favorite over Marc-Philippe Ngatchou. However, the public money came in on Ngatchou quickly and not only shifted the line, but flipped it. Stronge now sits as a +140 underdog and I think that’s a massive mistake.
The big reason for the movement is the recent victory from Ngatchou. The German fighter made his return to Cage Warriors back in November and hit a devestating spinning back fist. While the KO wound up on highlight reels, I wouldn’t consider it a good representation of that fight. Ngatchou looked questionable up until then, throwing lots of arm heavy punches and looking off balance at times. Now he faces an opponent who should be able to exploit that further.
Jordan Stronge has been out of the cage for nearly a year, but looked sensational in each of his last two fights. He has a combination of quick hands and surprising power for his size. He also has a tendancy to pour it on when he has his opponent in a tough spot. With Ngatchou being the type of fighter who winds up off balance from time to time, I expect Stronge to take advantage of that and pick him apart for a underdog cash.
