MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – April 10
Chicago White Sox vs. Kansas City Royals
First Pitch – 7:40 pm EST
Kauffman Stadium – Kansas City, MO
Broadcast – MLB TV
In the top of the first, we’ll have the White Sox coming to the plate. They have definitely exceeded early expectations on the year but still come it at 3.31 runs per game (which is good enough for 27th in the league). They have also been worse as of late – scoring just seven runs over their last three games. Now they’ll face Kris Bubic, who has been quite good this year. He has thrown 11.0 innings and fanned 12 batters. His 4.09 ERA is maybe not a bragging point, but should be good enough to keep the White Sox quiet early.
In the bottom of the first, the Royals and their futile offense comes to the dish. They are one of just two teams that have not managed to score a first inning run at this point in the season. They’ve also only managed three total runs over the last three games. That’s unlikely to change with Davis Martin on the bump. He looked sensational last time out against Toronto. He went 6.0 scoreless and stuck out six Blue Jays in the process. This Royals lineup should be easy pickings for him here.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for April 10: No (-135)
Houston Astros vs. Seattle Mariners
First Pitch – 9:40 pm EST
Petco Park – Seattle, WA
Broadcast – MLB TV
For our nightcap, we head out to Seattle. The Astros have had a solid offense this year, but it’s still worth mentioning that they finished 27th in first inning scoring last year. Emerson Hancock should help move them back towards that number. He’s allowed just one run all year in 12.2 innings of work. That’s more than just luck as well. He’s only allowed six total hits on the year and stuck out 14 batters. If that Hancock shows up again, the Astros could be in trouble.
To close out the NRFI, we look to Tatsuya Imai. Imai brought the heat last time out with 5.2 innings and just three hits. He also got nine stikeouts as well. Those numbers look good on their own, but look even better when you pair them with the hitting skills of the Mariners. Seattle ranks 24th in the league in first inning scoring. Although that is bad, it’s not nearly as bad as they are throughout the game. The Mariners are 29th in overall scoring and have just three runs in their last three games. Imai should feast on them here.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for April 10: No (-135)
