After a rather blah UFC 326 last weekend, the UFC is sticking around Vegas for another week, with UFC Fight Night: Emmett vs Vallejos going down in their home base, the Meta APEX. Oh joy. For my MMA Underdog Pick of the Week: UFC Vegas 114, I’ve got a live heavyweight dog for us. Let’s get it on, c’mon!

MMA Underdog Pick of the Week: UFC Vegas 114
UFC Fight Night: Emmett vs Vallejos (aka UFC Vegas 114)
Main Card Start Time: 5:00 PM EST
Heavyweights Vitor Petrino and Steven Asplund are scheduled to kick off the main card on Saturday, and obviously, since this is an underdog article, I’m going with the dog, Asplund.
Since moving up to heavyweight, Petrino has won back-to-back fights. However, it wasn’t against very high-level competition, and it saw Petrino put out very low levels of activity. For a guy who previously weighed 500+ pounds, Asplund has incredible cardio and striking output. I think he overwhelms the Brazilian with a barrage of strikes on Saturday.
At the very least, Asplund will fight for our money this weekend and put on a good showing for himself.
