Drexel at Monmouth

Start Time: 2:30 PM EST

This game is in the quarterfinal round of the CAA conference tournament, and it’s being played at a neutral site in Washington, DC.

Drexel enters this game with a 17-15 overall record and an 18-13 mark overall against the spread. Monmouth comes into this matchup with a 17-14 overall mark and a 16-14 record overall ATS.

These two teams played twice this year in conference play. Each team won and covered on the opponent’s home floor. In the last 10 games played, these teams have both split outright and split ATS.

Drexel won and covered against Northeastern in the 2nd round of the CAA tournament yesterday. Monmouth had a bye through the first two rounds, and this is their first game in this year’s tournament.

The metrics here favor Monmouth. Drexel keeps opponent scoring down by limiting possessions and staying in front of their opponents. However, Drexel can’t really shoot. Monmouth is solid defensively and clearly the better team on offense. The Hawks have a large advantage in the free-throw game and are 54th in the nation in opponent turnovers generated. If Monmouth gets in front of Drexel, it will be an uphill climb for the Dragons to get back into this game. Look for Monmouth to build a lead into the second half and pull away late. Drexel also has to play on back-to-back days, while Monmouth is coming in fresh. Lock up the Hawks to win and cover.

Best Bet: Monmouth -3.5

San Francisco at Oregon State

Start Time: 8:30 PM EST

This game is in the quarterfinal round of the West Coast Conference tournament, and it’s being played at a neutral site in Las Vegas, NV.

San Francisco comes into this matchup with a 17-15 overall record and a 14-17 mark overall ATS. Oregon State enters this game with a 16-15 overall record and a 14-17 mark overall ATS.

These two teams played twice during conference play, and Oregon State won and covered as an underdog in both matchups.

San Francisco only won four of their last 10 games coming into tournament play, while Oregon State was 6-4 in their 10 most recent games played.

Oregon State is the better team from the free-throw line and from beyond the arc. The Beavers need to make shots, but San Francisco isn’t amazing at defending the perimeter. That’s pretty much how the Beavers won in each of the regular-season games. Oregon State also did a good job of not turning the ball over and stayed competitive on the boards. That’s the same game script they need to follow in the conference tournament to get a cover. They’ve done it twice this year already, and this just appears to be a bad matchup for San Francisco. Let’s lock up Oregon State to cover again with the short spread at the neutral site.

Best Bet: Oregon State +3.5

Idaho at Montana State

Start Time: 10 PM EST

This game is in the second round of the Big Sky Conference tournament, and it’s being played at a neutral site in Boise, ID.

Idaho comes into this game with an 18-14 overall record and a 13-16 mark overall ATS. Montana State enters this matchup with an 18-13 overall record and a 17-11 mark overall ATS.

These two teams played twice this year in conference play. Each team won and covered on its own floor. This game will be played in Idaho. The crowd will favor the Vandals.

Idaho doesn’t defend the perimeter very well, and Montana State is 73rd in the nation in three-point shooting percentage. However, the Vandals are tough on the interior. On offense, Idaho is 125th in shooting from three-point range, and Montana State is 214th in opponents’ three-point shooting percentage. The Vandals have already played a game on this floor and have been able to get comfortable with the sight lines and lighting. Idaho also has the clear advantage in rebounding.

Look for Idaho to have a better game from the field and get physical with Montana State on the defensive end. This could be a similar outcome to Southern Miss vs. Appalachian State in the early rounds of the Sun Belt Conference tournament. The team playing on back-to-back games may not end up with tired legs, and the Vandals should have the home crowd. Lock up Idaho to get the cover as a short dog. The Vandals are live to win this outright.

Best Bet: Idaho +2.5
