It’s March! That means one thing. Madness. There’s not much better than March Madness. Now, we get to trade the futures market with our friends at Kalshi! Let’s dive in and review what Kalshi is, how it works, and find a few of our favorite NCAA College Basketball futures predictions to grab.
What is Kalshi?
Are you like many out there and are bored by the same old odds that you get on every sportsbook? Or maybe you’re sick of the prepackaged parlays that books try to hit you with that never really hit. Well, if you’re ready to ditch the old, musty ways of the sportsbooks, then you should try out prediction markets with Kalshi. Unlike sportsbooks, Kalshi allows you to trade your positions and to do so on just about anything imaginable. You can make predictions on sports, but also weather predictions, politics predictions, and pop culture predictions as well. Come check out what Kalshi is all about! The best part, Kalshi is legal in all 50 states!
When you’ve located a market you’d like to make a prediction in, you buy in on a side. The cost of that yes or no answer will be somewhere between 1 and 99 cents based on how likely it is to come true. Once you’ve purchased your side, you can make money in two ways. Firstly, you can hold your position, and if it comes true, then each share is worth $1. You can also sell your position as it rises and falls in hopes of getting the best value out of what you predicted. If you’re ready to give Kalshi a shot, make sure to sign up with promo code SGPN and get a free $20.

Florida Gators National Champion (+669) (13%)
The defending National Champion Florida Gators are my favorite team as we’ve entered into March. This team keeps ramping up as the season goes on. They’ve won 14 of their last 15 games, and went a perfect 9-0 in February. This offense seemingly can’t be slowed down, and they aren’t afraid to blow out their opposition.

The Gators are on track to grab a number one seed in the NCAA Tournament. Grabbing a position at Kalshi now will feel really nice when they cruise through the first couple of rounds of the tournament. I’ll be grabbing a position to hold because I believe they’ll win. But also a position to sell in the Sweet 16 or Elite 8 as their price skyrockets.
Kansas Jayhawks YES to Make Sweet 16 (-128) (55%)
The Jayhawks are an interesting case, as it always seems to be with this team in March. They are inconsistent, and that can be scary. However, this is an extremely talented team, and Bill Self can help them put it together and get things rolling. The team may have blown their shot at a three seed, but they’ll still be highly seeded. Kansas will have a good showing in the first round of the tournament and increase its value in this position for you.

Houston Cougars NOT to Make Elite 8 (-109) (41%)
A team I’m not sold on this March, last year’s National Championship runner-up. The Cougars have had some letdowns lately, which have highlighted their weaknesses. The Cougars lost three straight games against top-15-ranked teams in a single week.
Maybe they can use that as a learning tool, but it solidified my distrust of this team. The Cougars looked slow on offense. In previous years, Houston was able to take away the opposing team’s best scorers; that’s not something they’ve been as good at this year. They might get through the first few rounds, but I’ve got them marked as a team that doesn’t make it this far.
Iowa State Cyclones National Champion (+3223) (4%)
Let’s wrap it up with one more team that’s a longer shot, but I could see making a run. My main focus on this team will be seeing how long I can hold out before selling, but of course, I’ll grab a little for myself in case they make it all the way. This Iowa State Cyclone team is in no way a shoo-in to make it to the title game. However, they are capable of going on a run.
Like Houston last season, this team’s defense is absolutely elite. They can shut down just about anyone, and we’ve seen that be a key in this tournament many times. Their “big 3” of Joshua Jefferson, Tamin Lipsey, and Milan Momcilovic are electric. When they are all on the same page, this team can beat anyone in the country. Will their best version show up in March? That’s the question for any team, but they have the upside to help us cash out!
