While the UFC continues to be the king when it comes to MMA and gambling, there is more MMA than ever to bet on now. Promotions all over the world as well as domestic ones are showing up in sportsbooks. The advantage here is that the data is usually quite a bit less sharp than when you’re making MMA predictions for the UFC. So we’ve decided to dig into some each week to get you started on your regional MMA journey. MMA Regional Pick of the Week: Unified MMA 67
Unified MMA Middleweight Fight: Jordan Mein vs Yohan Lainesse
Card Start Time: Saturday (2/28), 6:00pm EST (Internet PPV)
On the main card of this Canadian fight night is a pair of former UFC veterans. While their stints in the UFC may not have been as long as they’d like, they still both have plenty of gas in the tank.
Yohan Lainesse enters Saturday on the heels of a two-fight win streak. In his last fight, he got back to his typical winning ways – knocking people out. The Tristar MMA product has always been dangerous and looks to be again here. However, he may just have met his stylistic match here in Jordan Mein.
Mein was released from the UFC 7.5 years ago, but is still not all that old. His career started young and was marked by fighting frequently thanks to his durability. That should help him against the dangerous puncher here. In addition, I also think his grappling game could come into play. Eight of his career wins have come with a submission, which just happens to be the way that Lainesse picked up his last two losses.
Look for Mein to use his distance and his durability to get this fight where he really wants it. If he does that, we should cash a solid underdog in this one.
