I’m so over All-Star Games, especially what the NBA offers up each year. That’s doubly true for the Slam Dunk Contest. However, we can bet on it, so that’s what we’re going to do. Here are your NBA predictions and preview for Saturday, February 14th (3-Point & Slam Dunk Contests).
NBA Predictions & Preview For Saturday, February 14th (3-Point & Slam Dunk Contests)
State Farm 3-Point Contest
Start Time – 5:00 PM EST
The 3-Point Contest is still pretty cool, I guess. And, unlike its Slam Dunk brethren, it actually gets players who are legit stars to compete in it: Devin Booker, Tyrese Maxey, Donovan Mitchell, Jamal Murray, and Norman Powell will all be playing in the main game on Sunday as well.
But I’m not going with any of those guys to win the 3-Point Contest. Instead, I’m going with sweet-shooting rookie Kon Knueppel, who is hitting 3.4 long-bombs per game at a 43.1% clip for the Charlotte Hornets.
Best Bet: Kon Knueppel (+260)
AT&T Slam Dunk
Start Time – 5:00 PM EST
Which brings us to what used to be the crown jewel of All-Star Weekend – the Slam Dunk Contest. However, the bloom has gone off this rose, so much so that it seems like it’s becoming difficult for the league to find players to compete in it.
This year, we have Carter Bryant, Jaxson Hayes, Keshad Johnson, and Jase Richardson vying for the title, all players you’ve never heard of. Let’s go with the only guard in the field, Richardson, because smaller guys look better dunking. And his dad, Jason, is a two-time Slam Dunk champ, so genetics.
Best Bet: Jase Richardson (+350)
2025/6 Overall Record: 119-101 (54%)
Profit (based on $100/bet): $537.93
Return on Investment: 2%
