We went through the Kalshi NCAA men’s basketball conference champion futures a few weeks ago. It’s time to dive back in and see where our plays are at, and see if there are any value plays on the board.
Have you heard how Kalshi works? Kalshi is a prediction market exchange. It’s a bit different from a traditional sportsbook. Users on Kalshi buy and sell “Yes” or “No” contracts on sports outcomes. Prices are determined by trader demand. Kalshi also allows users to trade against each other rather than the house, often with lower fees, and allows positions to be closed before the event is over.

NCAA Men’s Basketball Conference Champion Futures Market Best Bets From Kalshi
Big 12 Regular Season Champion at Kalshi
Best Play: Houston Yes – $0.35
For context, a $10 future on Houston: Yes to win the Big 12 regular season would pay $29.
The Houston Cougars have the second lowest odds to win the Big 12 regular season. They’re right behind Arizona, and the Cougars get to play Arizona in Houston. We just saw what The Phog did to the Wildcats. The Fertitta Center isn’t as storied as Allen Fieldhouse, but it’s a tough place to play. Houston has also really rounded into shape after an up-and-down non-conference slate. The current group appears bought in, and the Cougars have size, experience, and athleticism to match Arizona, especially on their own court.
The Cougars still need to travel to Iowa State, and they have a trip to The Phog coming up, but the rest of their schedule is as easy as the Big 12 gets. Kansas State, Colorado, and Baylor still have to come to Houston. The Cougars also have to travel to Utah and Oklahoma State in addition to Ames, IA, and Lawrence, KS.
Arizona only has to go to Houston, Baylor, and Colorado on the road, but they have home matchups against BYU, Texas Tech, Iowa State, and Kansas remaining on their schedule. The Wildcats already dropped one game to Kansas without Darryn Peterson. Could they get clipped by Texas Tech or Iowa State? Sure. The final leg of their schedule isn’t a cake walk, and that matchup against Houston looms large. Let’s add a share of Houston to win the Big 12 regular season for our Kalshi portfolio.
Mountain West Regular Season Champion at Kalshi
Best Play: San Diego State Yes – $0.32
For context, a $10 future on San Diego State: Yes to win the Mountain West regular season would pay $32.
San Diego State is a half-game behind Utah State to tie for first place in the Mountain West Conference. Utah State still needs to travel to San Diego, and that could be when the Aztecs surpass the Aggies.
San Diego State still has a tricky back-to-back road spot at New Mexico and at Boise State. They could lose both of those games. However, the rest of their schedule isn’t too bad. The Aztecs have Nevada, Grand Canyon, and UNLV still coming to San Diego. They also have to go to Colorado State, but that’s an extremely winnable road game this year.
Utah State has six conference games left, and they’re on the road for three of them. The Aggies have to go to San Diego State, Nevada, and UNLV. They also get Boise State, Grand Canyon, and New Mexico coming to Logan, UT. There’s a non-zero chance that the Aggies go 3-3 over that stretch. If San Diego State can go 5-2 with a head-to-head win, they win the Mountain West Conference regular season.
Let’s add a share of San Diego State to win the MWC regular season to our Kalshi portfolio at better than 3-to-1 odds.
Big East Regular Season Champion at Kalshi
Best Play: UConn No – $0.28
For context, a $10 future on UConn: No to win the Big East regular season would pay $36.
This play is actually a better number than St. John’s to win the Big East regular season. The Red Storm is half a game behind UConn for first place, and these teams have a head-to-head matchup remaining. St. John’s has already beaten UConn at Madison Square Garden. The Red Storm won at Storrs, CT, last year.
St. John’s will likely need to win out to make a Big East regular-season championship a possibility. The matchup with UConn is their toughest game remaining. They have road spots at Providence, Marquette, and Seton Hall. The Red Storm also get Creighton and Georgetown in MSG.
UConn also has to travel to Villanova. That’s a tricky spot, but closer to a 50/50 game than a scheduled loss. If UConn drops its second game against St. John’s, they’ll likely lose the Big East regular season. This is worth a sprinkle for your Kalshi portfolio.
