This weekend is headlined by a rematch between Diego Lopes and Alexander Volkanovski for the featherweight title. Prelim Pick of the Week: UFC 325
UFC Lightweight Fight: Dom Mar Fan vs Sang Uk Kim
Start Time: Saturday (1/31) 5:00pm EST (Paramount+)
Kicking off the UFC 325 card in Sydney is the finals of the four Road to UFC tournaments. Eight fighters will square off for a chance at UFC contracts and one just happens to be my pick for the best value on the prelims.
Dom Mar Fan stormed into this tournament with a win against Yuji Yannick Ephoeviga. “Street Buddha” was a +350 underdog in that fight, but his wrestling controlled the fight and lead him to a victory. His strong grappling style has been what’s led him to a 8-2 record – with the two losses both coming to UFC lightweight Quillan Salkilld.
What makes Mar Fan such a value here is that he’s fighting someone with the very same style. Sang Uk Kim also leans heavily on his grappling skills – particularly when it comes to top control. However, we’ve seen him have issues with bigger stronger opponents, who can match him and negate his wrestling skills. I expect Dom Mar Fan to do exactly that as he cashes as a moderate favorite.
