First Look at Super Bowl LX Odds and Picks: New England Patriots vs Seattle Seahawks

Super Bowl LX is set! Drake Maye against Sam Darnold, the Super Bowl we all thought we’d see, right? The New England Patriots will take on the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX on Sunday, February 8th, in Santa Clara, California, at Levi’s Stadium, the home of the San Francisco 49ers. It’s a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX in 2015, where the Patriots topped the Seahawks 28-24. Let’s take a look at the Super Bowl odds and picks for Super Bowl LX.

MYBOOKIE BONUS

New England Patriots

New England was going to be the underdog either way in this game. You’ll hear “easy schedule” and “easy playoff run,” but the bottom line is you beat the teams that are in front of you, and New England did just that. It’s reminiscent of Patrick Mahomes first Super Bowl win when he beat Deshaun Watson and Ryan Tannehill before taking down Jimmy Garoppolo in the Super Bowl. The Patriots became the first team in history to topple three top-5 defenses from the regular season in a single postseason run. They also have a tough defense themselves, giving up a total of 26 points in three playoff games. They may be the underdogs, but don’t count them out.

Seattle Seahawks

It wasn’t an easy path for Seattle to get here. They played in arguably the toughest division in all of football. The NFC West had three teams with at least 12 wins. The Seahawks not only had to beat them in the regular season to secure the #1 seed, they also had to play both the 49ers and Rams again in the postseason. They beat both and now find themselves in the big game. Seattle showed their ability to be an elite defense in the game against the 49ers, holding what had been an explosive offense to just six points. And then highlighting the offense in both games, putting up 41 against San Francisco and another 31 against Los Angeles.

The Spread – Seahawks 4.5 Favorites

The spread opens with Seattle as a 3.5-point favorite on some books, while they are 4.5 in other places. Rightfully so, they were the #1 seed and have looked strong through their playoff run on both sides of the ball. New England has struggled, but has also played three games against tough defenses, and all three games had inclement weather conditions.

This Patriots team gives me big 2018 Philadelphia Eagles vibes. The Eagles were the #1 seed, but given no chance. They broke out the dog masks and defeated the Patriots in Super Bowl LII despite being 4.5-point underdogs. This Patriots team wasn’t supposed to be here. They have nothing to lose, and they have the right attitude. This defense is elite, and Drake Maye has the game of his career waiting to come out. Neither team has the advantage that the coach or quarterback has been there before. The Patriots are my pick to cover and win this game. The underdog has covered in five straight Super Bowls and seven of the last 10.

Pick: Patriots +4.5

The Total – 46.5-Points

The point total opens at 46.5 points. Seattle has hit the over in both of their games, while New England has hit the under in all three of their playoff games. The spread has been pretty spot on in the last 10 Super Bowls. The under has a slight advantage, hitting in six of the last seven Super Bowl games.

My take on this is the game will go over, but it’ll start slow. Both of these teams have great defenses and defensive-minded head coaches. But, but also have great offensives and great offensive-minded play callers. We’re going to get a mixture of both in this one. Give me the first half under (23.5) parlayed with the game’s over (46.5), which you can get at +474.

Pick: Over 46.5
