While the UFC continues to be the king when it comes to MMA and gambling, there is more MMA than ever to bet on now. Promotions all over the world as well as domestic ones are showing up in sportsbooks. The advantage here is that the data is usually quite a bit less sharp than when you’re making MMA predictions for the UFC. MMA Regional Pick of the Week: Cage Titans 75
Cage Titans Flyweight Fight: Casey Norton vs Cody Davis
Card Start Time: Saturday (1/24), 6:00pm EST (Spectation Sports)
Plymouth, Massachusetts plays home to an exciting title fight between a pair of flyweights with UFC aspirations. Both the champion, Casey Norton, and the challenger, Cody Davis, figure to be only a fight or two away from an invite to Dana White’s Contender Series this summer. While that should make for an exciting fight, I’m far more excited about the odds we’re getting.
Casey Norton has had a relative easy go of think in his six career professional wins. However, it’s the two losses that really stick out for “The Wonderbread Warrior”. In both of those fights, he fought wrestler types who were much shorter than him. Both Harris Bonfiglio and Jordan Burkholder found their ways to his legs and worked for early submission wins.
Now Norton fights a fighter who follows that prototype to a tee. Cody Davis stands 5’3″ and comes from a wrestling background. His only prior losses are to those who are in the UFC or will be soon. I imagine he follows the blueprint set aside by Burkholder and gets this fight to the mat early. When he does, we’re going to cash an easy underdog ticket.
