North Carolina State at Clemson
Start Time: 7:00 PM EST
NC State enters this game with a 12-6 overall record and a 2-1 mark on the road. The Wolfpack is 9-9 overall against the spread and 1-2 ATS on the road.
Clemson comes into this matchup with a 16-3 overall record and a 10-0 mark at home. The Tigers are 12-7 overall ATS and 6-4 ATS at home.
Clemson has won eight of the last 10 matchups in this series, but NC State won and covered at Clemson last year. The Tigers have won nine of their last 10 overall and covered seven of their last 10 games played. NC State has won seven of its last 10, but only covered five games over that stretch. NC State is off a home loss to Georgia Tech.
This game is a unique clash in styles. NC State comes into this game with a top-30 offense in the country, while Clemson has a top-10 defense. On the opposite side, the Wolfpack is ranked 97th in the country in scoring defense, and Clemson is 135th in scoring offense. NC State is one of the best shooting teams in the country, while Clemson is one of the best teams in the country when it comes to shooting percentage against. The Wolfpack is better at turning over their opponent and protecting the ball on offense.
Clemson is due to drop a home game, and this looks like the spot. This was a clear look-ahead spot for NC State, and they’re off the bad loss at home to Georgia Tech. The Wolfpack has also won outright last year, and Clemson is coming into Super Tuesday with a number next to their name. This is a prime let-down spot for Clemson. Look for NC State to keep this a one-possession game, and they’re catching one possession. Lock up the Wolfpack to stay within 3.5 points here.
Best Bet: NC State +3.5
Miami (OH) at Kent State
Start Time: 7:00 PM EST
Miami (OH) comes into this game with a 19-0 record and a 7-0 road mark. The RedHawks are 12-4 ATS overall and 6-1 ATS on the road.
Kent State enters this matchup with a 14-4 overall record and a 10-1 mark at home. The Golden Flashes are 7-9 overall ATS and 5-4 ATS at home.
Miami (OH) has won and covered four straight matchups in this series. The RedHawks have won and covered all three in-conference road games they’ve played this year. Kent State has won four of its last five games played. Their only loss over that stretch was at Central Michigan.
Both teams are coming in with top-20 scoring offenses in the country. The RedHawks are 14th in the nation in scoring, while Kent State is 20th. The Golden Flashes are much worse on the defensive end, but that’s part of the system they play. Kent State wants to score, get back, and score again as quickly as possible. Miami (OH) also plays at pace, but Kent State makes it their identity.
This is the spot that sharps have circled for a few weeks. Miami (OH) is going on the road against one of its better in-conference rivals. The RedHawks just got taken to overtime at home against Buffalo. The Bulls led that game for 47% of the game and had it tied in the final minute of overtime. The line is a little short for this matchup, and usually that’s telling. Miami (OH) should be closer to a four-or five-point favorite here. Let’s take Kent State plus the 1.5 points. This is the letdown for Miami (OH). Lock up the Golden Flashes to end the perfect season in the wacky MAC.
Best Bet: Kent State +1.5
Vanderbilt at Arkansas
Start Time: 9:00 PM EST
Vanderbilt comes into this matchup with a 16-2 overall record and a 4-1 mark on the road. The Commodores are 10-8 overall ATS and 3-2 ATS on the road.
Arkansas enters this game with a 13-5 overall record and a 10-0 mark at home. The Razorbacks are 12-6 overall ATS and 8-2 ATS at home.
Arkansas won both games in this series last year, but failed to cover a 6.5-point spread at home. Vanderbilt is off back-to-back losses at Texas and at home against Florida. This is after winning 16 straight games to start the year. Arkansas is off a 14-point loss at Georgia.
The handicap here is simple. Arkansas has been an absolute wagon at home this year. Also, Vanderbilt is in a stretch of their schedule in which they find out how tough it is to win in the SEC. The Commodores were running through teams this year and were due to stumble. Regression will come for every team at some point, and this is a tough stretch of schedule for the Commodores team that was getting buzz as a favorite to win the conference.
Arkansas has beaten Louisville, Tennessee, and South Carolina in Fayetteville this year. The Hogs have a legitimate home court advantage and are nasty on offense this year. They give up points because of their pace, but the Razorbacks can get after it on the defensive end when they need to. This will be a legitimate hostile environment, and the Commodores are struggling at the moment. Let’s lock up Arkansas to win and cover the 1.5 points.
Best Bet: Arkansas -1.5
