MMA Regional Pick of the Week: Oktagon 82
Oktagon Middleweight Fight: Kerim Engizek vs Krzysztof Jotko
Card Start Time: Saturday (1/17), 12:00pm EST (Oktagon.tv)
Oktagon’s first card of the year brings us to Germany. Topping the card is the finals of the Tipsport Gamechanger Middleweight Tournament. The current middleweight champ, Kerim Engizek, looks to put more hardware on the mantle. Standing in his way is former UFC contender Krzysztof Jotko. While this is a hotly contended bout, it’s one that I think had some of the best value on the whole card.
The books seem to be weighing the UFC past of Jotko. While he has flew through the tournament fairly easily, he has never been known as someone who does a lot of damage. He relies on heavy control and a lot of pace to win, which is evident by his 19 career decision wins.
I can’t imagine that style will work against Engizek, who has a lot of the right tools to handle that approach. Firsty, he has solid wrestling in his own right, which should keep him on the feet. Secondly, the damage he does – in conjunction with his cardio – should make it hard for Jotko to win rounds.
Getting Engizek at pick’em prices for this one seems too good to be true.
