It’s fitting that we’re headed to a casino to keep my heater alive. However, the Grand Casino Arena hasn’t been lucky to its visitors this year (see what I did there?), as the Minnesota Wild are a dominant 13-5-6 on their home ice, the fourth-best mark in the league.
The visitors tomorrow, the Winnipeg Jets, are dreadful away from their frigid hometown. How dreadful? Try 7-13-2, the second-worst road record in the NHL. However, it’s not just the home ice that’s the issue here for the Jets – the Wild are the superior team, regardless, with advanced stats rating Minnesota a half a goal better than Winnipeg on neutral ice.
The fact that the Wild are in the midst of a mini-slump (two straight losses, one win in their last five) and the Jets have won three straight probably explains why we’re getting a playable moneyline for this game. I think this is a good ‘get right’ spot for the Wild, and a good winning play for us for Thursday.
