Perfect 3-0 Cards: 10-55
Oregon at Nebraska
Start Time: 9:00 PM EST
Oregon enters this matchup with an 8-8 overall record and a 1-2 road mark. The Ducks are 5-11 against the spread overall and 1-2 ATS on the road.
Nebraska comes into this game with a 16-0 overall record and a 10-0 home mark. The Cornhuskers are 9-7 overall ATS and 4-6 ATS at home.
This is a ‘sell high’ on Nebraska. The Cornhuskers just got done beating Ohio State AND Indiana on the road. This is a classic let-down spot in a sleepy matchup against a desperate in-conference opponent. The Oregon Ducks have struggled in Big Ten play…and, to be honest, struggled outside of Big Ten play. Oregon has lost two in a row to Ohio State and Rutgers.
The Ducks aren’t as rough as their 1-4 Big Ten record would indicate. They’ve struggled to replace a few key pieces that have missed time with injury. Oregon is in the top-100 in the nation in effective offensive efficiency against, so they are capable of defending. The Ducks are also a solid rebounding team, and their offense is capable of working if they have a plan.
Nebraska is due for a letdown spot, the same way we saw Miami (OH) struggle last week. Oregon will keep the game within 10.5 points and surprise folks by looking better than expected. Lock up the Ducks to keep this close.
Best Bet: Oregon +10.5
Alabama at Mississippi State
Start Time: 9:00 PM EST
Alabama comes into this game with an 11-5 overall record and a 1-1 mark on the road. The Crimson Tide is 7-9 overall ATS and 1-1 ATS on the road.
Mississippi State enters this matchup with a 10-6 overall record and a 7-1 mark at home. The Bulldogs are 6-10 overall ATS and 3-5 ATS at home.
Alabama has won and covered five straight matchups in this series. Mississippi State just had a six-game winning streak broken with a loss at Kentucky. Alabama is off back-to-back losses at Vanderbilt and against Texas in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide needs to get out of Alabama and beat up on an opponent on the road. The loss to Vanderbilt in Nashville had a clear hangover effect in their next game at home against Texas.
Alabama is the better team from the field and tougher to score on down low. The Crimson Tide is 46th in the nation in effective field goal percentage, and they can make their free throws. Alabama is also fourth in the nation in defensive blocks and 65th in shooting percentage against on two-point shots.
The Crimson Tide needs to get its season back on track, and they need to sweep this two-game road trip they’re starting. Mississippi State also has a look-ahead to Ole Miss this weekend. Lock up Alabama to get the win and cover the 5.5 points.
Best Bet: Alabama -5.5
Boise State at UNLV
Start Time: 11:00 PM EST
Boise State enters this game with a 9-7 overall record and a 1-2 mark on the road. The Broncos are 8-6 overall ATS and 2-1 ATS on the road.
UNLV comes into this matchup with a 7-8 overall record and a 5-2 mark at home. The Rebels are 6-8 overall ATS and 4-2 ATS at home.
Boise State has won and covered three of the last four games in this series. The Broncos have lost three conference games in a row. This is a clear foxhole spot for Boise State. UNLV is off back-to-back road losses to Colorado State and Wyoming.
Boise State has the better shooting team and the better defense by a wide margin. The Broncos are the 59th-best free-throw shooting team in the country, and they can defend the perimeter effectively.
The Broncos need this game like blood and have owned the recent history of this series. We’ve also seen UNLV sleepwalk through games. Boise State rights the ship, wins this game, and covers the spread. Lock up Boise State to cover.
Best Bet: Boise State -4
