MMA Regional Pick of the Week: Ares FC 37
Ares FC Bantamweight Fight: Moustapha Aida vs Andrey Tyshchenko
Card Start Time: Friday (1/9), 1:30pm EST (Internet PPV)
The bantamweight fight on Ares FC 37 has a line that keeps getting closer and closer. After Aida opened around -250, he’s steadily dropped to nearly being an even money play. That’s a huge mistake on the books and the public in my opinion.
Aida’s drop in price is likely due to his layoff. He hasn’t fought in two years and has just one win in the last three and a half years. However, handicapping him solely based on that fact is a mistake. Aida has a high level of competition and has shown the ability to trade hands with the best of him. He’s quick with his strikes and surprisingly durable for a smaller guy.
I also like Aida because of the matchup. While Tyshchenko has looked good at times, he has struggled to grapple against anyone who brings the pressure on him. Aida should do precisely that and shouldn’t have much trouble piecing him up. If that number keeps dropping, we may even be talking about that play at plus-money by fight time.
