Daily NBA Player Props – January 5th
Jaylen Brown – Over 30.5 Points (-108)
We continue to pound the over with Brown and it keeps paying off. He’s put up at least 30 in 10 of his last 12 games. He put up a 50-spot last time out and looks to be carrying the entire Boston offense. Now he’s facing a Bulls team that has been terrible on defense. They are 26th in the league in points allowed with 121.8 per game. To make matters worse, their whole frontcourt is banged up – Josh Giddey is out and Colby White is questionable for Monday.
Isaiah Stewart – Under 6.5 Rebounds (+111)
He came up short on Sunday and we can ride that trend into Monday as well. They’ve lowered the projection by one, but that doesn’t change the handicap at all. He hasn’t had more than four rebounds in a game since December 20th. In that time, he’s put up 3.4 rebounds per game. A lot of people thought that would change with the Pistons frontcourt banged up, but he put up just three against the Cavaliers. The Knicks are a top five team in terms of rebounding percentage, which shouldn’t help Stewart here at all either.
Lauri Markkanen – Over 26.5 Points (-114)
We’ve got another big scorer here against another pathetic defense. Markkanen has gone 5-1 against this projection in his last six games. He’ll look to expand that against Portland, which is also in the bottom third of the league in terms of defense. They have allowed 119.6 points per game – putting them in 23rd overall. He dropped 32 on them earlier in the year and there is not reason to think he won’t do precisely that again.
