MMA Regional Pick of the Week: CFFC 149
ICF 6 Middleweight Fight: Olli Santalahti vs Mateusz Rybak
Card Start Time: Friday (12/26), 12:00pm EST (Internet PPV)
There may not be much on the books for fighting when Christmas rolls around, but Finland is still popping with fights on the 26th. Despite the silly, and somewhat misleading, name of the organization, they do have a slew of great fights with high profile names on the docket. We’ve dug through them all to find out favorite value for the card.
Polish fighter Mateusz Rybak steps into the cage on Friday on the heels of a three-fight win streak. All three of those wins have come by stoppage and it’s easy to see why. His striking style is awkward and involves a lot of work to the body. He’s been able to hurt his opponents with uppercuts regularly and he’s not easy to get a takedown on.
That style should be a nightmare for Santalahti, who has been extremely hittable in the past. He also has had issues with the range since coming up to middleweight from welterweight – where he spent the bulk of his career. He’ll be looking to get the fight to the mat, but will likely be met with more than a few uppercuts. I like Rybak’s chances to land on enough of those to score the upset win.
