Perfect 3-0 Cards: 8-31

South Carolina State at Queens

Start Time: 7:00 PM EST

South Carolina State comes into this game with a 0-10 overall record and a 0-9 record on the road. The Bulldogs are 3-7 ATS and 3-6 ATS on the road.

Queens enters this matchup with a 4-5 overall record and a 4-0 home record. The Royals are 3-5 ATS and 2-1 ATS in their own building.

South Carolina State just got drilled by 40 points by Charleston Southern. Before that? They only lost by 31 to Bethune-Cookman. The Bulldogs allow opponents to average 88.2 points per game, and they’ve only scored 63.5 points per game.

Queens can give up points, but they’ve looked solid recently. The Royals just beat a better Gardner-Webb team by 33 points. Queens has struggled against mid-majors and high-majors, but they’ve wrecked the teams they’re supposed to wreck. South Carolina State is a team they’re supposed to wreck. Let’s lock up Queens to roll against a team that’s done little other than get rolled this year.

Best Bet: Queens -15.5

East Tennessee State at Austin Peay

Start Time: 8:00 PM EST

East Tennessee State comes into this matchup with an 8-2 overall record and a 1-2 road record. ETSU is 6-2 ATS, but only 1-2 ATS on the road.

Austin Peay enters this game with a 4-5 overall record, but a 2-0 home record. The Governors are 4-3-1 ATS and 1-0 ATS in their own gym.

From a situation standpoint, the Governors are returning home after a 0-2 road trip. They lost to UT-RGV by 13 and lost to Kent State by 12. Their most recent win was at home on 11/25. They beat Northern Illinois by 18.

ETSU has won two in a row at home against South Alabama and Tusculum. They dropped their last road game at Dayton and also lost at Presbyterian early in the year. Their sole road win was at North Alabama. ETSU also has North Carolina on deck as a look-ahead.

Both of these teams are chippy on defense. The ETSU offense will likely be slowed down by the unfamiliar building and the Austin Peay defense, while the Governors tend to slow themselves down on offense as is. This is a one-possession game between a pair of solid low-major programs. ETSU isn’t a sloppy offense, but Austin Peay has been effective at turning over the opposition. Look for Austin Peay to make it tough on East Tennessee State, keep the game close, and scratch out a close win.

Best Bet: Austin Peay +2.5

Cal Baptist at Eastern Washington

Start Time: 9:00 PM EST

Cal Baptist enters this game with a 7-3 overall record and a 2-2 road record. The Lancers are 5-4-1 ATS overall, but 3-0-1 ATS on the road.

Eastern Washington comes into this matchup with a 2-7 overall record and a 2-0 record at home. The Eagles are 5-3 ATS this year, but 1-0 ATS at home.

This is a tale of two programs headed in different directions. Eastern Washington was a chippy low-major that would wreck teams on their own floor. EWu is clearly rebuilding and taking it on the chin for a change. Cal Baptist has been building for a few seasons since they made the jump to DI basketball, but this is possibly the strongest team they’ve ever had.

EWU has home wins against UMKC and a lower division opponent. CBU is easily the best team they’ve had come into Cheney, WA.

Cal Baptist has picked up road wins against Oregon State and UC-Irvine. Both teams are a lot better than Eastern Washington this year. The Lancers’ road losses have been at Colorado, BYU, and Utah. They’ve 0-3 against the Big 12.

Cal Baptist is better than Eastern Washington on both ends of the floor. The Lancers’ offense, in particular, presents a particularly poor matchup for the EWU defense. Cal Baptist can shoot from distance and win on the inside against the Eagles. On defense, Cal Baptist is solid at defending the perimeter. Eastern Washington should struggle from long-distance. The Lancers are also far and away the better rebounding team. Cal Baptist should get plenty of second chances and clean the glass on the defensive end. Lock up Cal Baptist in the late window to cover the four points.

Best Bet: Cal Baptist -4
